Charity Care in Kansas City

We initially established a charity primary care clinic in Gardner, KS; however, we noticed limited need and started partnering with the Medina Clinic, a charity clinic in the Kansas City Metro Area. Dr. Mushtaq is serving on the board and Charitable Care Committee of the Kansas City Medical Society Foundation that opens new avenues for engagement in KC area

Introduction:

The Mikael Rayaan Foundation is pleased to present the initiative for a Charity Clinic in the Kansas City Metro area. Our journey began with the establishment of a charity adult primary care clinic in Gardner, KS, with the generous support of Dr. Saboor Rashid at the Urgent Care of Kansas. While the initial endeavor in Gardner showed limited need, we redirected our focus to underserved populations in the Kansas City area, particularly the refugee populations, to better address the pressing healthcare challenges in these underprivileged communities.

Collaboration and Partnership:

In our pursuit to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those in need, we forged a partnership with the Medina Clinic in Grandview, Missouri. Under the leadership of Dr. Wael Mourad, the clinic is providing vital healthcare services for underserved communities through a non-profit charity clinic. Our collaboration aims to strengthen and support the incredible work being done at the Medina Clinic, enhancing its capacity to serve a greater number of individuals in need.

Key Initiatives:

  • Focus on Underserved and Refugee Populations in KC: By shifting our focus to underserved and refugee populations in the Kansas City area, we are addressing the unique healthcare needs of these communities. Through targeted outreach programs and community engagement initiatives, we strive to provide accessible and culturally sensitive healthcare services to those who need it most.
  • Support for the Medina Clinic: Our collaboration with the Medina Clinic involves providing resources and expertise to help expand the clinic’s reach and impact. By working closely with Dr. Mourad and his team, we are contributing to the sustainability and growth of this vital healthcare facility.
  • Community Engagement and Awareness: We have initiated community engagement programs to raise awareness about the healthcare services available at the Medina Clinic and promote access to care for those in need. Through special fairs such as Eid festivals and outreach activities, we seek to connect with underserved populations and empower individuals to take charge of their health.
  • Capacity Building and Sustainability: Through our partnership with the Medina Clinic, we are focusing on capacity-building initiatives that will enhance the clinic’s operational efficiency and long-term sustainability.
  • Participation in Kansas City Medical Society Foundation: Dr. Mushtaq’s election to the board of the Kansas City Medical Society Foundation and service on the KCMSF Charitable Care Committee has opened new avenues for engagement in charitable activities within the Kansas City area. By leveraging this platform, we aim to further our impact and support healthcare initiatives that benefit underserved populations.

Looking forward:

As we move forward, the Mikael Rayaan Foundation remains dedicated to its mission of serving vulnerable communities and improving access to healthcare services for those in need. Through collaboration, partnership, and community engagement, we are committed to making a positive difference in the lives of individuals facing healthcare disparities. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our donors, partners, and supporters who have made our charitable initiatives possible. Together, we will continue to work towards a healthier, more equitable future for all members of the Kansas City community.
