Introduction:

The Mikael Rayaan Foundation is committed to addressing global health disparities by empowering the next generation of medical professionals. We have established the Global Research Training Initiative (GRTI) to provide comprehensive research training and mentorship to young international medical graduates (IMGs) from developing countries who face challenging barriers to pursuing specialized careers. Our goal is to inspire these graduates to pursue a career in Hematology, Oncology, and Cellular Therapeutics – a critical field that is rapidly evolving, offering life-saving treatments and innovative research opportunities that can significantly improve patient care and health outcomes worldwide.

Objectives:
  • Research Skill Development: To equip IMGs with essential research skills and knowledge in Hematology, Oncology, and Cellular Therapeutics.
  • Career Development Inspiration: To foster a passion for research and clinical excellence, motivating participants to pursue advanced careers.
  • Networking and Collaboration: To create a global network that connects participants with established professionals, researchers, and institutions.
  • Addressing Health Disparities: To encourage research that targets specific health issues prevalent in underserved populations worldwide.
Program Structure and Implementation:
  • Research Training: Covering research design, data collection, statistical analysis, and ethical considerations in clinical research.
  • Mentorship Program: Pair participants with experienced mentors in Hematology, Oncology, and Cellular Therapeutics. Facilitate personalized guidance and host regular virtual meetings and interactive workshops to enhance knowledge exchange and professional development.
  • Research Project Implementation: Encourage participants to design and conduct research projects, provide resources and support for project execution, and facilitate access to mentorship and guidance throughout the research process, from conception to data analysis to dissemination of findings.
  • Annual Conferences and Symposiums: Organize an annual conference to showcase participants’ research, fostering networking opportunities with healthcare professionals and researchers, and invite leading experts to share insights on the latest advancements in Hematology, Oncology, and Cellular Therapeutics.
  • Partnership Development: Collaborate with cancer centers, universities, research institutions, and healthcare organizations to secure resources, funding, and expertise for program delivery. Current and potential partners include the University of Kansas Cancer Center, Moffitt Cancer Center, and U.S. Myeloma Innovations Research Collaborative.
  • Program Delivery: Utilize a virtual platform to maximize accessibility with hybrid in-person opportunities whenever necessary.
Expected Outcome:
  • An increased number of young medical graduates from developing countries pursuing careers in Hematology, Oncology, and Cellular Therapeutics.
  • Enhanced research capabilities among participants, leading to valuable contributions in their respective fields.
  • A sustainable global network of professionals dedicated to addressing healthcare challenges and improving outcomes in their communities.
Conclusion:

The Global Research Training Initiative aims to transform the careers of young international medical graduates from developing countries. By providing targeted training, mentorship, and research opportunities, we can inspire the next generation of Hematology, Oncology, and Cellular Therapeutics leaders, ultimately contributing to improved health outcomes globally. We look forward to your support in making this vision a reality.
